I love this song by Mandisa. Makes you think about what you’ve done with your life. Every minute you spend making an excuse, waiting for something to happen or waiting on someone is a minute wasted. I highlighted the words that stuck out to me.

DIY Paper Lantern

I’m really against paper lanterns. Personally I think they are really tacky, but when I saw this paper lantern on the blog of you are my fave, my distate for tacky lanterns lessened a bit. Isn’t this cool? I guess its more cool that she made it out of cupcake liners of all

I love this short little excerpt from “Whatever you Think, Think the Opposite” by Paul Arden. I found this picture on Aubrey Road. Recently I’ve been having many discussions about being proactive. It’s not just about having an idea about something and just leaving it at that. To do that would be like completing half the task. What’s the point if you’re not going to complete it all the way, right? This excerpt pretty much sums up EXACTLY what I’ve been having a hard time describing in my own words. I hope this has encouraged you to become more proactive about your ideas. Who knows where it will lead you…

I am totally one of those people who can sit for hours and listen to the same song over and over on repeat! I know some people can’t do that, but I don’t ever get sick of a song if I REALLY like it. I haven’t heard this song in a really long time, and just recently came across it. I really like the female vocal. Enjoy!

I went to Clyde Common with a coworker awhile back for lunch (I’m really behind on my posts!). It’s a nice airy, modern restaurant and perfect for lunch gatherings. Their website says they are are a European style tavern. The room is adorned with communal tables, long glass water bottles, simple lighting, stainless steel equipment, and dark wood furniture. I love that the kitchen is open and you can see the chefs working!

Hamburger with a fried egg which comes with either a side of fries or salad.

Pappardelle pasta with braised leeks, arugula pesto, and chevre. Looks can be deceiving. This dish looks simple to the eye, but it’s packed with subtle flavors (yes, that is an oxymoron, but it’s the best way I can describe it) that tingle your tastebuds in every bite. I believe the pasta is hand-made which makes it extra delicious!

Produce Row, yum! The food here tasted a lot better than I thought it would. It’s a cute bar/restaurant in the industrial district. They serve a variety of delicious American fare at reasonable prices and have a lot of beers on tap. The interior keeps this place fresh and hip to gather with friends and hang out!

We started to eat before I snapped a photo of our dishes. We ordered the french dip sandwich and chicken and waffle.

Portions were generous. Friendly staff. Delicous Food. I would definitely come back!

NW Natural Street of Dreams

On Saturday my mom and I went to go look at the Street of Dreams homes in Tigard, Oregon. There were 5 homes open for touring this year.

Here are a few of my favorite features/pictures in no particular order

Skydiving Oh My!

I must have a thrill-seeking bone in me. Yesterday I went skydiving in Molalla, Oregon with a bunch of my friend’s coworkers. I’ve always wanted to go skydiving, but never wanted to go alone. When the opportunity came up to go, I took it without any hesitation.

The thrill lasted for about 20 minutes. It’s approximately an 8 minute plane ride up in the air to 13,000ft and a 12 minute free fall/glide down to the ground!

When you deboard the plane you’re suppose to lean your head back to the right, hence the awkward pose. I’m not just posing like this on purpose (although I didn’t see other people doing this). Most people think you JUMP out of a plane, but that wasn’t true. We sat on the floor of the plane with our legs hanging out the edge of the door. Then the tandem instructor climbs (scooches) out the door and the rest is history.

Here we are just chilling in the sky. Oh~ did I mention we’re free falling down to the EARTH?! If I haven’t, let me tell you now. We’re free falling for a whole minute from 13,000 ft to 5,000ft. As you fall, most people think you experience that roller coaster feeling where your stomach churns and comes up to your neck. Well, you don’t actually get that feeling. Maybe initially when you deboard the plane because you’re upright but that only lasts for 2 seconds. Once you get into your arched back position you’re just falling (without the stomach churning sensation). What I did not expect though were my ears to hurt so much! My instructor said that was normal and sometimes if you have sinus problems it can agitate it more. I didn’t hear my peers complaining too much about their ears, so it could have just been because I have sensitive ears.

When the parachute deploys at 5,000ft, it’s a nice float down to the ground. My instructor did some turns/spins in the air which is totally optional, but after about the 10th spin I started to get a bit dizzy.

Incoming for landing!!! I’m so thankful that I didn’t land on my bottom! It just looks cooler that way.

And safe on the ground with my cone head looking rubber helmet! Wahoo!

Skydiving was such an adrenaline rush. Surprisingly it is very safe (yes, I felt very safe up in the air), and I have no regrets taking the leap! If you’re scared or have any hesitations, don’t be. Once you get up there you’ll wonder why you let your fear get the best of you!

Little Bird

Last March I took Simon to Le Pigeon for his 30th birthday! A french inspired restaurant by chef/owner Gabriel Rucker winner of the James Beard Foundation’s 2011 Rising Star Chef of the Year. I loved the food so much that I had to visit it’s sister restaurant Little Bird.

While I didn’t try the famous “Le Pigeon” Burger at the Le Pigeon restaurant last March, I was surprised to find it on the menu at Little Bird. It is a huge burger with a mound of pickled slaw.

We also tried the Roasted Chicken with leeks, pickled peppers, and goat cheese vinaigrette.

The review: The food was good, but it was a bit overpriced. The burger was also very big and juicy!! The verdict, if you’re a fan of slaw you will love this burger.
